Earlier this week Sony already announced the new Xperia ZR. This new Android smartphone from Sony is waterproof just like the Xperia Z thanks to the IP55/IP58 certification, it can even go a little bit deeper (1,5 meters) compared to the Xperia Z (1 meter), both should last up to 30 minutes under water. But it seems that this isn’t the only device that Sony will be announcing this month, because the FCC just approved the Xperia UL (SOL22), which is rumored to be announced this month. The device was already spotted last month in a LTE speed test with the Japanese provider KDDI.
The Xperia UL (Gaga) is said to have a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 instead of the Snapdragon S4 Pro of the Xperia Z, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a 2300mAh battery (BA950). Furthermore, the smartphone will feature a 5-inch 1080p display and is probably running on Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean with Sony’s own Xperia user-interface. Documents of the FCC also confirm that the device also supports 2G, 3G, LTE, HSPA (Category 10), HSUPA (Category 6), WLAN 802.11 a/b/g/n (2,4Ghz/5.0Ghz), Bluetooth, FM, NFC, GPS, Personal Hotspot Mode en RFID mode capabilities.
We expect that Sony will announce the Xperia UL (Gago/SOL22) in the near future.
